United Way of Pasco County Announces $600,000 in Community Impact Awards to 50 Partner Agencies

Land O’ Lakes – October 30th, 2024United Way of Pasco County (UWPC) over the past year has supported 50,000 residents across the county - from Lacoochee to Holiday - through the Community Impact Grant. For this upcoming 2024-2025 Fiscal Year, funds from the Community Impact Grant will be distributed to 50 Pasco-based nonprofits dedicated to health and human services, addressing the critical needs of Child and Elder Abuse Recovery, Economic Mobility, Homeless Prevention, Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence Recovery, Mental Health, Physical Health, Substance Abuse Recovery, and Youth Success and Education.

The Community Impact Grant from UWPC ensures 100% local use of funds, empowering grassroots agencies to serve Pasco residents with essential resources, including shelter for domestic violence victims, mobile food pantries for the elderly, bill assistance, early childhood reading readiness, job training and life skills development for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, legal services for survivors of human trafficking, affordable homeownership programs, healthcare for low-income residents, and mental health therapy for children, families, and veterans. For details and to receive help from the 2024-2025 Partner Agencies, visit www.unitedwaypasco.org.

UWPC is thankful to their Community Impact Fund top donors including Publix Supermarkets, Pasco County Board of County Commissioners, Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative, Ferman Automotive Group, Pasco County Schools, and Duke Energy. Grant dollars are made available from generous donations from Employee Payroll Giving Campaigns, individual and family donors, corporate gifts, and Pasco County.

"I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our incredible Board, whose dedication this year has been instrumental in identifying and addressing the overlooked needs within Pasco County. A huge thank you to our corporate donors, with Publix Supermarkets as top sponsor. Thank you to our individual donors, the Board of County Commissioners, our program volunteers, and the community members who make up the Allocations Review committee. Their unwavering support allows UWPC to strategically fund impactful agencies and programs, creating lasting change throughout every city in Pasco County,” remarks Charles Anderson, President and CEO of UWPC.

Agencies applying for the Community Impact Grant underwent an extensive vetting process. They were asked to submit an application and present in front of a panel of diverse members from Pasco communities about their purpose, their need for funding, and their financial records. After careful evaluation, the Allocations Review team submitted their funding recommendations to the UWPC Board of Directors. $948,500 was requested in funding for health and human service-related needs.

The UWPC Board of Directors earmarks $132,500 for Physical Health $105,500 for Youth Success and Education, $95,000 for Economic Mobility, $80,000 for Homeless Prevention, $69,500 for combatting Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence, $65,500 for Mental Health, $27,000 for combatting Child and Elder Abuse, and $25,000 to Recovery from Substance Abuse.
