Category 4 Hurricane Helene decimated Florida particularly on the West Coast. We are now prepping for Category 5 Hurricane Milton. Here in Pasco where there are thousands of people in emergency situations from the disaster, we are calling on you to help us step up as a community to serve those in need.

Support Your Community in This Time of Need

The United Way of Pasco County is dedicated to assisting our residents impacted by the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene & Milton. In the wake of the storm and the associated storm surge, we are focused on providing immediate relief to those affected. We are launching the Hurricane Helene Relief Fund, with 100% of proceeds going directly to residents in the form of emergency hotel stays and shelter costs. With hundreds of residents currently filling up shelters in Pasco County, it’s crucial that we provide safe and temporary accommodations for those in need. Hotels across Pasco and Tampa Bay cost at least $100+ a night for a family.

How You Can Help:

Your support is crucial! United Way of Pasco County is accepting monetary donations through our Hurricane Relief Fund https://bit.ly/HurricaneReliefPasco to help displaced residents. While we appreciate your willingness to donate physical donation (like blankets, food, baby supplies, etc.), please drop these such items directly to Pasco County shelters. Here’s how your financial contributions can make a direct impact through our fund:

·       $10 covers a warm meal for someone displaced.

·       $20 provides transportation from a flooded home to a nearby shelter.

·       $30 feeds a family for an entire day in one of Pasco County’s shelters.

·       $150 places a family in a hotel for one night.

·       $450 covers three nights of hotel accommodation for a displaced family.

Recent Relief Efforts:

Over the past week, United Way of Pasco County has worked tirelessly to provide meals, shelter, and essential supplies to those affected. Here’s how we’ve been helping:

·       50 meals were donated by Culver’s and distributed by United Way for emergency personnel and first responders.

·       100 Publix subs were distributed to emergency workers.

·       150 meals were purchased and delivered to Pasco shelters, prepared by Arlisa Catering.

·       We have placed dozens of displaced families in hotels, and we continue to purchase basic necessities for those in urgent need. We are currently providing a hotel stay for a family whose home was devastated while they were at the hospital welcoming their newborn baby. This family lost everything and needed clothing, baby supplies, and food during this critical time.

·       Undergarments, baby supplies, toiletries, and other essential items were purchased from our office and distributed to many of the Pasco Shelters. In one such case at the Fasano Shelter, our staff met an elderly woman who had lost everything but her wheelchair. With our support, she received the supplies and undergarments she desperately needed to stay comfortable at the shelter.
