Front desk receptionist – Volunteer at United Way!

An exciting opportunity to volunteer at the United Way of Pasco County office located in Land O Lakes, Florida.

  • Professional appearance
  • Pleasant disposition
  • Good communication skills
  • You are comfortable with computer programs (Microsoft word and excel)

Main responsibilities:

  • Greeting visitors at our office, welcoming, directing and announcing them appropriately
  • Answering, screening and forwarding incoming calls
  • Under direction entering data
  • Assist with office clerical duties copying, printing, collating, faxing, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Two shifts available – Monday through Friday

  • 8:30 am – 12:30 pm
  • 12:30 – 5:00 pm

VOLUNTEER TAX PREPARERS NEEDED FOR 2017 TAX SEASON!

BE A PART OF HELPING PASCO RESIDENTS KEEP MORE OF THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY!

HOW HAS THIS PROGRAM HELPED THE COMMUNITY?

Pasco County residents who use this service includes low to moderate-income working taxpayers and Senior Citizens.  For many of them, a tax refund can mean they won’t have to choose between paying for groceries and keeping the lights on.

WHAT IS NEEDED TO VOLUNTEER?

  • No tax experience needed!
  • Good computer skills
  • You don’t have to be a math whiz
  • Bilingual/Spanish speakers are always in high demand
  • Volunteer tax preparers will complete comprehensive training such as:
    • IRS advanced-tax training course and become IRS certified to prepare taxes to prepare simple, uncomplicated returns.
    • IRS Certification will be provided at no cost to volunteers and offered on various dates and county locations for your convenience in January 2017.

TIME FRAME

Tax preparation volunteer needed between the last week of January – April 17, 2017.

Preparers usually volunteer 1-2 days a week, 4-hour shifts morning or afternoons. (Evening and Saturday shifts also available)

WHERE DO I VOLUNTEER?

There will be 10 tax sites that are located throughout the county (West, Central and East) in 2017.  More details will be provided by a Prosperity Campaign volunteer representative.

Various volunteer opportunities

Rewarding Volunteer opportunities are available as part of United Way’s partnership with VITA (Volunteer Tax Assistance).

Technology / Computer Set-Up volunteers

Time frame for these volunteers: November 2016 – April 2017

These volunteers work closely with the Program Coordinator and site leaders to assist in setting up the tax preparation sites at various East, Central, and West Pasco locations.

  • Volunteers need to be available from November through April to assist with computer setup and site support.
  • Responsible for ensuring all computer components (laptops, printers, etc.) are connected properly and are fully functioning.
  • Duties include physical setup of computer hardware, networking, shared printers, trouble shooting and problem solving.
  • Requires IRS Standards of Conduct Certification

Lead Volunteers

Share your leadership skills!

  • Responsible for the overall activities of the VITA site.
  • Schedules volunteers and supervises return preparation
  • Contact person for the site and act as liaison between the other site volunteers and United Way of Pasco County
  • Must complete the advanced tax certification process and supplemental certifications.

Client Facilitators volunteers

Engage with people at the tax sites!

  • Welcome tax filers to the tax site during the tax season
  • May also inform taxpayers about other available community resources
  • Verifies client credentials and information required to prepare return
  • Participation in one hour training is required
  • Requires IRS Standards of Conduct certification test
  • Oversees the flow of clients to preparers and quality review

Site Volunteer Scheduler

Detail oriented skills are helpful!

  • Schedules tax appointments for filers
  • Manage the appointment calendar and walk-in traffic
  • Collects time sheets
  • Calls clients about missed appointments
  • Requires IRS Standards of Conduct Certification
  • Assists clients complete intake paperwork as necessary

Last year, over 8,000 Pasco tax payers used our
FREE tax service and received:

  • Over $8 million in total refunds
  • $1.9 million in Earned Income Tax Credits
  • $1.2 million Child Tax Credits

What do Volunteers Do?
